What a historic win for the USMNT! It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t even captivating except for the last 15 minutes where truth set it in that this might stay 1-0 then defense was pulsating through my veins.

There is a lot of good to take from this butterface win. Namely, Clint Dempsey sensational form carrying over from Fulham to the National team. With a half a yard and a good hold up play from Jozy Altidore the USMNT put themselves in the record book and turned Italy into a whirlwind of what just happend in their fortress.

The second most exciting to happen was the introduction of Borussia Dortmund Terrence Boyd. The tingling sensation going through your body is that Terrence Boyd has yet to feature for the first team at Borussia Dortmund yet he has shown so much promise that JK brought him in. Now before you start tearing me or JK for bringing in Boyd in without first team action keep this in mind Borussia Dortmund is #1 in the Bundelisga and behind some great strikers (Barrios and La Tellec). He is a bright forward with lots of upside with dual nationality for Germany and the U.S. and now he looks to be onboard with the USMNT.

Other honorable mentions were Michael Bradley, Fabian Johnson and Maurice Edu who were key in defense and in attack mode. They were refreshing to see in the new USMNT jersey.

Quick shout to the US 23 for beating Mexico U23- Dos a Cero. Not only was the win great but we showed poised and a Blitzkrieg of attacks against a top tier team. Is Caleb Porter that good? We shall see.
