Go ahead an admit it…..you’re thinking about Houston aren’t you?

It is quite alright to look ahead. We all are anxiously awaiting next Tuesday’s third-round U.S. Open Cup matchup between the San Antonio Scorpions and Houston Dynamos.

Ticket representatives were unable to give me exact figures of how many tickets have been sold, but are anticipating a crowd similar to the Scorpions home opener which drew over 13,000 fans.

A cloud of worry hung over fans as news spread that certain NASL teams who advanced to the third-round were ‘selling’ the home game rights to their MLS opponent in order to secure a quick profit. The Atlanta Silverbacks sold their rights to the Seattle Sounders while Real Salt Lake bought their game back from the Minnesota FC Stars.

Team President Michael Hitchcock quickly put fans at ease by responding to fans via the social network with one simple line, “13K”, referencing his efforts to sell all 13,000 seats at Heroes Stadium.

Rest easy San Antonio, Houston will have to come to us.

Believe it or not though, San Antonio has bigger fish to fry. Canadian fish.

The Scorpions travel north of the border to take on Edmonton FC Sunday afternoon. San Antonio beat Edmonton 2-0 at home last Saturday and look to extend their unbeaten streak to six games, as well as pushing their winning streak to five.

Stop by the Lion & Rose (Blanco/410) Sunday and hang out with the Crocketteers’ at their watch party.
