Impressive play last week provided the first home win of the season for the San Antonio Scorpions. Carolina was held scoreless and the Scorpions were able to put three past the keeper to secure the win. A big signing from this off-season, Eric Hassli scored his second goal of the season. Danny Barrera added the second and last Fall’s super striker, Tomasz Zahorski, added his first goal of 2014.
Ninth place FC Edmonton are in San Antonio today coming off a 2 – 1 win over NASL new-comer Indy Eleven. It was their first win of this Spring season. This will be the third game for the Eddies in the last eight days and the fifth in two weeks. Edmonton lost to MLS side Montreal Impact in the Canadian Championship this past Wednesday.
The Scorpions are in fourth place in the standings, three points behind co-leaders Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Minnesota United FC. There are only four games left in this Spring season sprint to host the Soccer Bowl championship game. Every point is necessary to stay close to the leaders.

The Crocketteers asked for donations to help our refugee kids play soccer and you responded! There was a fantastic amount of soccer gear dropped off at last week’s tailgate. This donation drive continues the entire month of May. Today’s tailgate is your third opportunity to bring new and gently used equipment. Thank you to everyone who donated last week!
The next three games are against the three bottom teams but the Scorpions need to focus on today’s game and not start looking ahead. Edmonton traditionally has a difficult defense to crack and they’ve been scoring well recently. The Scorpions must be on their toes or risk dropping out of the Spring title chase. Scorpions 2 – 0 FC Edmonton.
